    Hi,

I’ve been using Bento for years for a database fro my repair company. Ive know for a long time support had gone but since the last iOS update it now no longer work on my iPhone, which is essential.

I have got the trial version of tapforms and have imported the bento files. The database files appear fine, with the exception of a few address fields and extra telephone number fields but I can get rid of those. What I can’t work out is the calculation that I had on my forms.
I had (Materials) + (Labour costs) which adds this together and works out the VAT.
Then I had Total, which was Material + Labour + VAT = Total.
When I try and type in a new docket into the database, the field VAT and Total don’t fill themselves in and I can’t even type in them. They appear locked.
I’ve had a look at the calculation for the vat field which was exported from bento and its, (materials) + (labour)*20%. This worked for bento but doesn’t appear to work here.
I tried changing it to (materials) + (labour)*.2 and that doesn’t work.

Also what is the iPhone app that I need, there seems to be a few version out there.
Can anybody help. I would really like tapforms to work before I commit and buy the full version.

    Thanks

    Hi Nick,

Thanks for giving Tap Forms a try.

Tap Forms does its best effort to convert the formulas from Bento into Tap Forms compatible formulas, but it doesn’t convert them all properly. You have to go in afterwards and make changes.

It would be helpful to see a screenshot of your formula that’s not working or if you email me the form template I can look at the formulas and see why they might not work.

But the % character was the problem you had before.

You could try Materials + Labour * 0.2 to see if that works for you. Your modification didn’t have the prefixed 0 in 0.2.

For the iPhone app you’ll want Tap Forms 5. Not the older ones (e.g. just plain Tap Forms or Tap Forms HD, those are the old ones).

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Many thanks Brendan, yes thats worked, the calculations are working again.

On the iPhone app side of things, does the app cost £16.99 on top of the purchase price of this Mac software?

    Hi Nick,

Yes, the iOS version is a separate purchase from the Mac version. But it’s universal so one copy will run on your iPhone and iPad.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
