Doug BlakeParticipantGood afternoon,
I’m a reloader and I just imported about 27,000 reload recipes from Access. For any one cartridge, I might have 50-100 or more recipes. The title of each record is the name of the cartridge. I would like to know if there is a way to only have the cartridge name appear once on the forms screen and then when I tap it, all of the recipes for that cartridge will show up. Is that possible? Otherwise, I will have to rely on the search mechanism to find a particular recipe. That isn’t a dealbreaker for me. But it would be nice to just have the grouping header show up and not all of the recipes until requested.
For example, the list would show 45Colt once only and 38 Special once only until I tapped on it and then the whole list of recipes would be displayed.
Possible?
Thank you,

Sam MoffattParticipantIf your cartridge name is a field, you can use the “Group Records By” option in the form settings to group by that field. That will then group the recipes up and you can click on the “Section Index” button at the top right of the field list. You can use that to jump to where the records are but it will still show them. If you’re using the multicolumn list view, you can hide the cartridge name field from the list and just rely on the section headings though they don’t float so that might not work. If you’re using the single column list view, moving the cartridge name down the form ordering will remove it from the listing. That said adding the ability to collapse down the sections could be cool because then you could hide the other items and having the heading float would also be useful for long listings. Not sure how well this translates to iOS but should work fine on the Mac.
The other approach to this is to use a second form for the cartridge names and then use a Link to Form field with the JOIN mode to join on the names. This would give you a list of cartridges and then when you go into them the Link to Form field will let you see a list with just those recipes in them. This should work reasonably well on either the Mac or iOS.
