Is it possible to automatically take georeferenced photo? So it’s located like when you take it with you camera app?
Hi Kim,
It’s been a while since I worked on that code and maybe things have changed, but I don’t believe the location information is provided to developers at the time the image is taken within a third-party app. So that’s why it’s there from the Camera app, but not if the photo is taken with the camera from within Tap Forms.
I just did a bunch of research and the story is the same it appears. Tap Forms does have a separate GPS location field you could add to a record. But I do understand the need to have it in a photo. So far from what I can find, the only way to add it to a photo is to record the user’s location separately, then try to combine it into the photo taken from the camera.
For now though you could use the regular Camera app to take your photos, then select those photos from the library within Tap Forms. That should maintain whatever metadata is stored within the photo. As long as you’re not scaling your photos in Tap Forms, which will cause the metadata to be removed..
Thanks,
Brendan
