ShaneParticipantBad news for Bento users, good news for Tapforms! It appears that Bento is now becoming buggy in Yosemite Beta 9 (they’re now on Beta 10). When you launch Bento it appears to hang while “Opening Database” and a window pops up that something to the effect of:
“ATOS must take control of another process, so that the debugging process can be continued. Enter your password to allow this.”
If you hold down the *alt* key you can choose a new empty database, but the screen flickers.
Maybe future releases of Yosemite may fix the problem, but I doubt it. It’s just a matter of time before OS X kills Bento, assuming it already hasn’t.
That’s the push I need to make the inevitable plunge into the world of Tapforms and delicious cloud synchronization (rather than the drudgery of manual synching in Bento).
Now to install Bento on my GF’s Mac and start exporting my data into Tapforms.
Brendan, what are you going to do with all the extra income? ;)

BrendanKeymasterI had this trouble with Bento in Yosemite developer preview 7, but it was corrected in developer preview 8. So I’m not sure it’s going to be an issue going forward. I guess we’ll see once it goes golden master next month.
Increased sales would be great! I would love to be able to hire some help. :-)
Thanks!
Brendan

ShaneParticipantI’m using Dev Preview 8 Brendan and it still has the same hanging/ debug issue. I can however start a new DB so I think it might depend on what kind of data you’re storing in the DB. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had to do with the Contacts/ Events / Calendar integration within the OS. I’m pretty sure I have some libraries that are dependant on them.

BrendanKeymasterAh yes, I did have to dump all my old Bento data. But even after doing that, it still wouldn’t open in Preview 7. But it does not in Preview 8. But I really have nothing in there now and I use it just for testing my Bento import routine.

ShaneParticipantI did the same thing. Went to my backup MBP with Mavericks and installed Bento there. I exported my important libraries and imported them back into a fresh DB in Yosemite. Seems to work but I didn’t import everything back in.
