    Hello!

    I am new in Tap Forms and this is my first question in this forum.

    I am working with a database, and I have prepared two personal forms, one for screen view and another for printing. My problem is I am not able to set a text filed with a font size in one form and with a different size in the other form: always the printing size equals the size of screen form.

    In my case, I fixed in screen form a text field with size 16, and I would like to show the same field in printing with size 10. But, even I design the printing form for size 10, the text is always shown with size 16 !

    I would appreciate some help

    Regards

    Hi Jaime,

    Is this a Note field? If so, you may need to change the content’s font size instead of the field’s font size. That is, exit layout design mode, then edit the content of the note and set the font size there. The font size on the Note fields sets the default font for NEW notes, not for existing notes. However, for plain Text and other field types, the selected font and size is for all records. The reason it’s different for Note fields is because Notes have their font information embedded within the content. You can have all kinds of different fonts within the contents that’s different from record to record.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Thank you for your answer.

    You are right, the problem is with a Note field.

    But with me the problem is not solved.

    The best is I suggest an example.

    a) Prepare a new form with just one field, a Note one;

    b) Now prepare two personal layouts, A and B, both with that field;

    c) Write some text in note field in layout A. For any reason, the font size is set to 36, but this is not important;

    d) Move to layout B (the text is shown with size 36, like it was in layout A). Now change the font size to 10;

    e) Move to layout A: The font size still is 36;

    f) Move to layout B: The font size now is 36 and not 10 like it was set in d).

    This means that the font size in layout B was lost, or, by other words, seems to be not possible to have different font sizes for the some Note field in different layouts.

    Am I right ?

    Hi Jaime,

    The problem with Note fields is that the font data is embedded right within the content. And because the content is shared between layouts, you can’t have a different font for each layout for a Note field. This applies only to Note fields though. For Text and every other field type you can have a different font for each layout for the same field. The font information is stored with the layout object in that case and not with the field’s data as in Note fields.

    I suppose I could change it to be more like a Text field, however then I’d have to remove the ability to customize the fonts within the Note field content. You can’t have it both ways unfortunately.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
