Mike SchwartzParticipantI’ll start by agreeing with the recent post by Steve, that the Search and Filter functionality in Tap Forms is very good, with very convenient access to saved searches in the side bar. Beyond that, depending on how I’m using my data at the moment, I find myself frequently needing to go to the Forms tab to temporarily change the Sort and Group settings, and then go back to revert them to my usual settings.
It occurred to me that it would be great if Tap Forms could store the current Sort & Group settings along with a saved search/filter. So if I currently have a saved search selected, and I change the group/sort settings, then those settings would be remembered for that saved search when I click out of it. The saved “filter” could even be “all records”, for the sole purpose of having a quick switch to another sort/group arrangement. For example, I would love to have a saved search named “All Records Sorted by Date”, which is not the way I usually have my records grouped and sorted. Tap Forms would need to preserve the group/sort settings for the top level for the form throughout any switching back and forth to saved searches.
Please consider adding this feature to your backlog.
Thanks,

BrendanKeymasterHi Mike,
Tap Forms 5 can already do this. The sort settings are saved on each separate search. Just display the Form inspector panel when you have a Saved Search selected and change the sorting to whatever you’d like it to be. If none have been set then it defaults to the sort settings of the Form it belongs to. But you can override that for each separate Saved Search.
Thanks!

Mike SchwartzParticipantWell that’s precisely what I was asking for! I could swear that I tried that and nothing happened, but I just tried it again and it works exactly as you stated. It might be worth adding a sentence or two to the Search section of the online and PDF documentation to point out that capability.
Bravo and thanks!

BrendanKeymasterHi Mike,
Excellent. I’m glad that’s what you were looking for. I also just added a blurb at the bottom of the manual page to let people know about the sorting options for Saved Searches.
Thanks!
