Purchased Tap Forms application for Mac, installed.
Tap Forms document created on computer. Document encrypted and synced to iCloud.
Apps for Tap Forms iOS then installed on iPhone and iPad, both synced to iCloud.
QUESTION:
It appears that encryption of the document on the computer Tap forms application does not carry over to the iOS apps, correct?
Therefore, encryption must be activated AGAIN on each copy of Tap Form app that is installed on the iPhone and the iPad?
That’s correct. The forms and records and photos, etc. that are sent to iCloud are sent in a decrypted state. They’re of course encrypted within your iCloud account according to your own iCloud credentials and during transit over the Internet. But once it gets downloaded to the other devices, the data is not encrypted unless the database document you’re syncing with is also encrypted. Each database can be encrypted with a different password on each device. Even for the same document. They’ll still sync.
There’s one exception to this. If you had encrypted a document on one device and then used the Send Document function to send a copy of that document to another device, the document would still be encrypted.
Perfect. Thanks, Brendan. I really like that security scheme.
