Glen ForisterParticipantI’ve tried many versions of
DATE ( Date Collected ; “D”)
DATE ( Date Collected ; “dd”). – this crashes TF5
DATEADD ( Date Collected ; “D”)
DATEVALUE ( Date Collected ; “dd”)Nothing seems to give me the day of year or Julian Date.
See pic attached.
Any help appreciated. The first line is what was given me earlier for the same question, but no go for some reason.
Hopefully…Attachments:

BrendanKeymasterThe
DATE()function returns aTextvalue as it shows on your screenshot. But you’re telling Tap Forms to return a Number value. Try setting theResult Typepopup button toTextand see if that solves the issue for you. If you need it as a number, then you can wrap that in theSTR2NUM()function.October 20, 2025 at 11:39 AM #53085
Glen ForisterParticipantYES – I didn’t think of that.
Thanks.October 28, 2025 at 10:04 AM #53132
Glen ForisterParticipantNice idea, but I couldn’t get it to work. Tried changing “Text” to “Number” and still no go.
Curious where you got this functionm I don’t see it in the manual of field types. The other may crash, but it works most of the time.
I do have TF5 crash sometimes so I would like to know what I’m doing wrong. I couldn’tOctober 28, 2025 at 5:54 PM #53134
Daniel LeuParticipantThis works:
DATE([Date Collected] ;"D"), return type text. In Tap Forms Pro, return type number is valid too.Attachments:

BrendanKeymasterGlen, I believe Flynn’s answer was just a spam comment disguised as trying to be helpful. There’s no DAYOFYEAR() function in Tap Forms and the DATE() function does not cause Tap Forms to crash (that I know of).
Are you saying that DATE() returning Text is still not working for you?

Glen ForisterParticipantOK, I didn’t expect getting spoofed. He got me…
Yes, your solution works great, especially with the STR2NUM() with a number output.
Thanks for checking.October 29, 2025 at 2:27 PM #53141
BrendanKeymasterExcellent. Thanks for confirming. I’ve deleted “Flynn’s” account. It was a very recent sign-up from Vietnam. I get a lot of spam accounts created from there.
