Alan HaymanParticipantHi, Brendan,
Congratulations on the release of Tap Forms Pro. I’ve installed it on my Mac and successfully migrated my data and custom layout over to it. I’m not installing it on my iOS devices until I get the migrated version of my database working.
I’m having an issue with my database.
I set up my form with a multi-column list view on top and a custom layout on the bottom. I have several saved searches in my form. In Tap Forms 5, when I would click on one of the saved searches, the list view would display all the records satisfying the saved search criteria, and the custom layout would display the information from the first record in the list. When I would click on another one of the records in the list view, or scroll down to another record, the custom layout would display the information for selected record.
In Tap Forms Pro, this is not working. When I click on a saved search, the list view displays all the records satisfying the saved search criteria as it did in Tap Forms 5, but the custom layout does not update to display the information for any of the records in the list. Clicking on any of the records does not update the information in the custom layout. Is this a bug, or is there something I should be doing that I’m missing?
Thanks!May 11, 2025 at 12:12 PM #52202
BrendanKeymasterHi Alan,
Can you please try re-launching Tap Forms Pro? I just tested this issue and it’s working ok for me.
Thanks,
Brendan

Alan HaymanParticipantHi Brendan,
Here’s what’s happening:
In Tap Forms 5, if I am in one group of records after having done a saved search, and I click on one of the records, its information is displayed in the custom layout. Then if I do second saved search, the information for the first record in the newly found group is automatically displayed in the custom layout.
In Tap Forms Pro, if I do a second saved search, the custom layout still displays the information from the last record that I clicked on in the previous saved search. If I click on the first record in the newly found group, the information in the custom layout is not updated. Then, if I click on the second record, the information for that record is now displayed in the custom layout, and then I can click on any record in the newly found group, including the first record, and the information for that record will be displayed in the custom layout. If there is only one record in the newly found “group”, then there is no second record to click on, and there is no way for me to display the information for that record. Strange.
Thanks,

BrendanKeymasterHi Alan,
I’m trying to get a new update through Apple App Store review that should solve this problem. There was a glitch that could sometimes show the wrong record data on the list view from what’s displayed on the details view. But I fixed that.
It has been in review since yesterday and I suspect they’re going to reject it as they already have once.
Thanks,
Brendan

Alan HaymanParticipantHi Brendan,
I just updated to Version 1.04, and this problem is still there.
Maybe it will be fixed in Version 1.05 . . .
Thanks,

Alan HaymanParticipantHi Brendan,
I just installed Version 1.05, and this problem is still there.
Maybe it will be fixed in Version 1.06 . . .
Thanks,

BrendanKeymasterI’m not seeing that issue.
When I click on different saved searches, the selected record on a custom layout is updated to be the record I selected (or the last record that was selected in that search).

Alan HaymanParticipantHi, Brendan,
Here is what happens:
If you do a saved search, you get a list of records that show in the multi-column view. Clicking on any record shows the data for that record in the custom layout.
Now, if you do second saved search, you get a different list of records in the multi-column view. In Tap Forms 5, the data for the first record in the new list is shown in the custom layout, automatically – no intervention is required. This doesn’t happen in Tap Forms Pro – what is shown is the data from the last record that you clicked on from the previous saved search. If you try clicking on the first record in the list, the data in the custom layout is not updated. If you click on any other record in the list, the data is updated in the custom layout, and then you can click on the first record and the data will be updated in the custom layout. If there is only one record in the “list” of the second saved search, there is no way to get the data from that record to update in the custom layout.
This is repeatable, and happens every time. It’s an annoying bug, and I hope you can fix it!
Thanks,

BrendanKeymasterDoes this issue happen with the single column list view? Is it just limited to the MCLV?
June 7, 2025 at 8:45 PM #52396
BrendanKeymasterStill trying to reproduce it and even if there’s only one result in the saved search, my custom layout is updating to the record that’s displayed on the multi-column list view. I’m sorry I’m having a hard time reproducing this issue.
When you say “and when you do a second saved search”, do you mean you just click on a different saved search? Or are you creating a new one when you say “do” a saved search?

Alan HaymanParticipantHi, Brendan,
This issue happens both in single column list view and in multi-column list view.
My document is a database of my extensive collection of classical recordings. I’ve attached a screen shot of a multi-column view, showing three records that were the result of a saved search. Whenever I purchase a download, I assign a “Purchase Lot” number to that purchase; it shows up on the attached view as “Lot”. The attachment shows the result of a saved search of Purchase Lot number 2206.
The second attachment shows the left side of the screen, with all my saved searches. You’ll note that the “Purchase Lot” saved search is highlighted. If I double-click on the icon to the left of “Purchase Lot”, a dialog box called “Search Details” comes up. If I type a different Purchase Lot number in the box to get another list of records and then hit Return (by the way, this only works with a saved search involving a number; with text, I have to actually click the Save button – maybe you can fix this too – TF5 also does this!) I get a different list of records. However, the custom layout still displays the first record in the previously saved list, in this case, the Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade. That’s the bug I’m talking about.
I hope this is more clear.
Thanks,

Alan HaymanParticipantHi, Brendan,
I just updated to Version 1.06. Thanks for all your work to refine Tap Forms Pro.
However . . .
This bug is still there.
To recap:
In Tap Forms 5, if I do a saved search to find a group of records, the custom layout view shows the data for the first record in the newly-found group. Every time. Rock solid.
This is not true in Tap Forms Pro. If in a group of records I click on a record to display its data in the custom layout view, and then do a saved search to find another group of records, the custom layout view continues to display the data from the record I clicked on in the previously-found group of records. Furthermore, clicking on the first record in the newly-found group does not display its data in the custom layout view. If I want to display the data from the first record in the newly-found group in the custom layout view, I have to click on one of the other records in the group, which updates the data in the custom layout view to show that record. Then I can click on the first record, and its data will be displayed.
A corollary of this is that if there is only one record in the newly-found group, I cannot display its data in the custom layout view, because there is no other record to click on first before clicking on the single record.
I tried deleting my document from Tap Forms Pro and then remigrating the current document from Tap Forms 5 (which I have continued to use while waiting for the bug in Tap Forms Pro to be fixed) after updating to 1.06, but that didn’t help.
I think what is happening is that Tap Forms Pro is not notifying the custom layout view to update when a saved search is performed.
I hope you can fix this in Version 1.07.
Thanks,
AlanJuly 17, 2025 at 3:03 AM #52703
Alan HaymanParticipantHi, Brendan,
Version 1.07 does not fix this problem.
I paid the subscription fee when Tap Forms Pro was first released, and I look forward to becoming a steady user, but until this bug is fixed, I will continue to use Tap Forms 5, which works correctly.July 17, 2025 at 6:11 PM #52706
BrendanKeymasterHi Alan,
Hmm… Would you be able to make a screen recording of this issue? It seems to work for me. I type in a search, select the first record, then type in a new search term and the records list changes to the appropriate found records and the custom layout shows the first record of the result set.
So it appears to be working for me as expected with the first record changing to the record that was newly found.
Thanks,
Brendan

Alan HaymanParticipantHi, Brendan,
I’ve sent you two screen recordings via Send This File, plus a separate E-mail explaining what you’ll see in the two recordings. The two recordings show you the issue I’m having with Tap Forms Pro.
Please download the two recordings from the Send This File link, and then see my E-mail for the explanation of the two recordings.
Thanks.July 25, 2025 at 1:15 AM #52746
Alan HaymanParticipantHi Brendan,
