Hi all. (Newbie on trial)
As initially setup, TapForms (Mac version) stores the “Sample Forms” document (database) in ~Library/…/Data/Documents.
Question: Is it OK to change the location of this document (and others, eventually)?
Thanks.
Hi M_ichel,
Yes, you can store the .tapforms document wherever you like.
But Tap Forms won’t auto-open it upon launch unless it’s in the designated folder. I should probably add the ability to choose a different location.
Just make sure you don’t store the .tapforms documents on a network volume such as iCloud, Dropbox, or some other network volume. The internal SQLite engine I use doesn’t like that.
And also don’t move any documents while you have them currently opened within Tap Forms. Deep down in the database layer the path to the database file is stored in memory and is set only when the database file is opened.
Thanks,
Brendan
Is this now possible Brendan?
Cheers…
Sorry – meant to add – so that the file auto opens.
Hi Tony,
Not yet. I haven’t worked on this feature. Still on my to-do list.
Thanks,
Brendan
It’s not really good to change the location, because record links won’t work, if the db document isn’t in the default location…
