Hi, I’m new to Tap Forms, so maybe I’m doing something wrong, but it sure seems broken. I am running version 3.8.1 on an iPhone 5, latest ios7, and I am trying to create a form. When I am in the edit form mode, and click on “Add a Field”, I give my field a name, then select its type. If I hit the “+” button it asks me for a field name again. If I hit the “< Edit Form” button, I haven’t created my field. I can’t seem to do anything to create or customize my own forms. I wanted to see if this is a bug in the latest version, or if I’m doing something wrong.

    Thanks,

    -Matt

    Hi Matthew,

After you’ve created your new field, don’t tap on the + button on that screen. Tap on the Field Title, then enter in a new title for your field and then tap on the Save button. Once you’ve done that you can tap on the + button if you’d like. Or you can tap on the back button and then tap on the “Add new field…” function.

Your fields will be saved and added to your form when you save the field name.

    Thanks!

    Hi Brendan,

I’ve done that. It changes the field name at the top of the screen, but if I return to my form, the new field isn’t there.

    Hello Matt,

    Very strange.

Ok, lets see if we can figure this out. Follow these steps exactly:

    1. From the Forms tab, tap on the + button at the top right.
    2. On the Select a Form view, tap on the “New” button.
    3. Tap on “New Form”
    4. Give your form a different title. For example “My Books”.
    5. Tap the Save button. You are returned to the New Form screen with an empty list of fields.
    6. Tap on the Add a Field… button
    7. Tap on Field Title
    8. Type in “Book Title”
    9. Tap the Save button. You should be back on the Edit Field screen.
    10. Tap the back button. You should now see your Book Title field with an “A” icon to the left of it.
    11. Add additional fields doing the exact same thing as above if you like.
    12. Tap on the back button. You’ll now be back at the “Select A Form” screen.
    13. Scroll down to the Uncategorized section and tap on your “My Books” form. You should now be on the Edit Record screen.
    14. Tap on “Book Title”.
    15. Enter in a value for the field. For example, “13 Reasons Why”
    16. Tap the Save button.

Ok, so now you’ve created your first form and created your first record and set the value of the first field.

    Does that work for you?

    Thanks!

    Hi Brendan,

I just followed your exact steps. All goes well until I get to step 10. When I hit the back button to return to “New form” page, I do not see the new “Book Title” field. I only see the “Add a Field” line under fields.

    Hi Matthew,

    That’s very strange.

If you haven’t done much to this database, I would recommend uninstalling and downloading a new copy. There must be something wrong with your copy. I’ve never seen this before.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Uninstalling in and reinstalling it did the trick. Strange, I’ve never had to do that before. Anyway its working fine now.
    Thanks,

    Hi Matthew,

Well I’ve heard of some very odd things happening every once in a while and a re-install seems to clear those up. Perhaps a bad bit or two came down the pipe when installing or updating.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
