I am a newbie to this database, and am really feeling my way around. Apologies if the answer to my question is already here, but I couldn’t find it.

I am creating a database with 4 fields. However, I need to enter using the calendar as the main priority; but then sort on all the other fields independently (they are Location, Stock Number, and the fourth one is currently blank just in case I need to add something in hindsight).

I need to be able to save the sorted files on each field as a separate file, so that I have everything to hand sorted by date, number, location, etc., but in unique files.

    How do I do this?

Just create your database and create filters for the sorting for each field. You only need one database for this. Just use filters and don’t forget to set the proper sort for each filter.

    Thanks Leo.

I may have stumbled on another way to do this by accident. I have been using the calendar view when adding items to the database, as they all have a despatch/received date.

However, I found that if I switch to Multi-column list view the fields are arranged in columns with an up-arrow next to the column header. If I use the up or down arrows on each column they will sort ascending or descending automatically.

If I duplicate my original database a number of times and call each on a name of a field column, I believe I can sort and save four different files in sorted in four different ways.

I hope this makes sense. It may not be the most logical approach, but it would work for me.
