tonytParticipantHi Brendan
If I give records a background colour, when I select srveral records it does not seem possible to batch change the colour, only record by record.. or am I missing a trick?
Also – is it / will it ever be possible to conditional colour format? eg colour all records with three stars red, two stars amber and one star green, etc..
Cheers
Tony

LeoParticipantYes, conditional would be nice.
You can change the color in batch after multiple selection with the color button in the middle of the view

BrendanKeymasterAs Leo mentioned, yes you can batch change the colour.
I haven’t thought about conditional colouring of the background. I think your’s is the first request for that.

LeoParticipantBrendan, I use coloring too. ˜Think about the enormous possibilities if it could be done by a condition of a field… This would be great…

Jose MonteiroParticipantNope :)
Leo is not the first requesting that.

BrendanKeymasterOk, sorry, I forgot abut your request Jose :)

Jose MonteiroParticipantIt seems we can only apply batch colour changing to records that are in sequence.
If we want to apply the same colour to blocks of records that are not in sequence, the easiest way is to join them in a Saved Search (SS), then select all of them and apply the colour we want.October 27, 2017 at 8:58 AM #25602

If I select all records in MC view, the option ‘colour button at the bottom disappears? So can’t batch change colours…Attachments:

Jose MonteiroParticipantHi,
When selecting multiple records the colour picker is not anymore at the bottom of the window.
See attached file.
You have to click at the bottom of the window, where you see the number of records displayed, and drag it up for the colour picker show up in the center of the bottom half screen.
Then you can do as usual.Jose

BrendanKeymasterIf you switch to single-column list view you can select discontiguous sets of records using command-click, so no need to create a saved search.
October 27, 2017 at 9:37 AM #25615
BrendanKeymasterDon’t forget there’s also the Pick List value colours if you want to identify your records using some sort of logical methodology that means something more than just the record’s background colour. Tap Forms will display a coloured vertical bar to the left of the record if you set the Record Colour Field to a field that has a Pick List associated with it that has different colours set on the different values. You can also create Saved Searches on these values so you can see all records of a particular colour. You can’t do searches on records with different background colours because there’s no value associated with the background colours. But there is with Pick List values that have colours on them.

Jose MonteiroParticipantThanks Brendan.
I was not aware of that feature on single-column list view.

Jose MonteiroParticipantBut it seems that Pick List value colors will only show up on Forms.
Not on Lists, be it single or multi-column.Is that so?

BrendanKeymasterJose, did you set the Record Colour Field on the form to be the field you’re using for the Pick List?

Jose MonteiroParticipantOctober 27, 2017 at 11:49 AM #25632
Jose MonteiroParticipantSorry.
No I didn’t.
It’s OK now.

tonytParticipantAm i right that if you add a record with a coloured background on the mac, it syncs to the ipad as coloured, but if you add a record on the iPad it syncs to the mac as white background, even if you want it to be colored. I know you could colour it on the mac, but it would be nice if what was possible on the mac was possible on the ipad in display terms. Nice, but not esssential however.

BrendanKeymasterYa, I haven’t added the function to let you colour a record’s background on iOS yet.
