I am looking into TapForms for my iPad to fill a particular need I have at work, but there is one thing that isn’t clear to me: does it support handwritten input from the Apple Pencil? I am looking for a database solution that offers handwritten input as a possible field type. Not just the standard “signature” stuff, but actual Apple Pencil supported input, preferably with handwriting recognition.
Basically, I want to be able to carry this thing around with me at work and enter data quickly into a couple of fields without having to type, but rather scribble/write.
Is this something that TapForms offers now, and if not are there plans for it?
Hi Tim,
Tap Forms doesn’t do handwriting recognition with the Apple Pencil. There is the Signature field of course, but there’s also a Drawing field. But it’s quite basic and still doesn’t do handwriting recognition.
You’re the first person I can think of who has asked for handwriting recognition for Tap Forms. It would be great if Apple had a built-in handwriting recognition API. Not sure why they don’t because I know that in old macOS versions they used to have the Ink framework which did this on Mac.
Thanks,
Brendan
