    Hi there,

I’m totally new to Tap Forms so excuse me if this is already asked.
I’m (still) running the free version 3.5.20 for the moment on iMac.

I want to use Tap Forms as aircraft database.

Sometimes it happens that i see an aircraft more then once.
Must i always check the serial/registration first with the search function before i will see i’ve seen this aircraft, or will there be popup warning me that that specific aircraft is already in my database?

And if i want to set a location, tap forms stops working en re-opens.
    More people with this problem?

Will Tap Forms 5 be better for me to work with for my specific database?

    Thanks already for the answers

    Hi Spotter,

Tap Forms 5 is the most recent version. I would recommend using that version instead of the older 3.5. I am no longer able to update Tap Forms 3.5, so if you go that route, you’re stuck on that version forever. Whereas Tap Forms 5 is being updated regularly.

Tap Forms doesn’t yet have a “uniquing” function. So Tap Forms won’t tell you if you’ve already entered that value into the database. However, what you could do as a workaround is set the Auto-Complete setting on the Aircraft Serial number field. Then as you start typing in the serial number, you’ll see in the popup menu that appears if the same serial number has already been used. But that’s a Tap Forms 5 feature.

I’m not aware of a location bug in Tap Forms 5, but it’s definitely possible it’s crashing on Tap Forms 3.5, especially if you’re using Tap Forms 3.5 on a newer macOS version.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

    Hi Brendan,

Thx for the response, i’m using TF5 now en Auto complete setting works good

    But what about the location?

Since some places i go to don’t have any address, how can i point them out on the map?
When i click somewhere on the map, the coords don’t change.

I can search te coords manually with Google Maps and copy past them into TF5, but i don’t think that’s the way to do it

In Tap Forms 5 you can search within the Location field type for an address and Tap Forms will place the location pin there. You can also drag and drop the pin location to place it where you want.

Gives me a lot of troubles

Most of the time the location point is “locked” and when i try to move it i drag the complete map around.
Sometimes i succeed to move the location point with lots of clicking on it
