Cloud+ Sync is a new, optimized version of iCloud Sync. It supports all the same features as iCloud Sync, but does it in a faster way using a new sync algorithm. It also uses way less disk space than the standard iCloud sync. For those who are technically minded or curious, it uses Apple’s CKSyncEngine to accomplish syncing between devices using your iCloud account. Eventually the original iCloud sync service will be removed as this is a much better sync algorithm.
To setup Cloud+ Sync:
- Go to the Settings screen
- Click/tap Sync
- Click/tap Cloud+
- A progress indicator will appear. Wait for it to finish before doing anything else. If your document is large, it may take quite a while to upload and depends on how fast your Internet connection is. I recommend doing the initial sync on a WiFi network for optimum performance.
- Go to a different device and click/tap on the Cloud Documents button. On macOS and iOS it’s on the main Documents window/view.
- Click/tap the cloud download button next to the document you just synced. If you set a sync password on your original document, you’ll be asked to enter the sync password for that document. Enter the exact same password you set on the document you just synced. It must be exactly the same or when you go to view your data in your records, you won’t see anything.
- A new, empty document will be created with the name of the document selected. It will begin to download all the data from iCloud for that document.
- Wait for it to finish downloading before doing anything else.
