Does Tap Forms work on the new Apple iPad?

.... why yes it does!

How do I know that? Well, I was watching the iPad demo video on apple.com and I saw my app icon fly by as the user was swiping through the app icon pages:
Tap Forms app icon on Apple iPad

And there it is! 3rd row, 3rd column.

Very cool indeed!

As soon as the iPad is available in Canada, I will be getting one to test my app on it. I already have some ideas on how I can improve Tap Forms to fit on the iPad sized screen.

    Thanks!

Too bad the app name isn’t readable and it goes by so quickly. Oh well, it sure was exciting to see it in the video though!

im loving the ipad personally. what do you think of it now? was it upto your standards?

Unfortunately the iPad is not available in Canada just yet. So I’ll probably have to wait a little longer for them to arrive here. I have started working on an iPad specific version.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

  5. I read your blog all the time and I just thought I’d say keep up the amazing work!

Hey, thanks for the post. I’ll have to add you to my RSS reader

  7. Indeed a great blog post. The attention to detail simply for this post is just as impressive as all of the sites detail above. Nice work, and a sensible read.

I love Tap Forms on my iPhone and have entered a lot of secure data onto it. I have to disagree with “it Works on an iPad” however. In my case at least when I open the app on my iPad I am already through the front gate without a request for a password. My data all transferred over to the iPad nicely nicely but it is no longer protected by requirement of a password! Help! Can’t live like that for long! Please fix this bug ASAP. Thanks very much for listening.

OK, that was just stupidity on my part. Shortly after posting the note above I found the solution and actually turned on the Passcode screen. Feel free to delete this and my previous post. Sorry.

  10. admin says:

    Hello Ed,

Sorry for the passcode issue. The reason this happens is that the passcode is stored encrypted inside the device’s keychain. The keychain doesn’t get backed up with SyncDocs. So when you restore to another device, you just have to reset your passcode (as you’ve figured out).

    Thanks!

Will the existing Tap Forms become a Universal app with iPad support or will it be a separate iPad-only version of the app?

  12. admin says:

Tap Forms for iPad will be a new separate application. When installed on your iPad, it will be called Tap Forms HD. Tap Forms iPad wouldn’t fit, so I’m going with Tap Forms HD. I will have an initial sale price running for a little while to give those who already have the iPhone version a chance to upgrade. But it will not be a universal application.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

Please can you ensure that the install of tap forms for ipad wont
    a) delete existing tap forms mobile application on the ipad
    b) that you can transfer databases and data , relational links, contacts , photos etc

I will happily pay for an app that will allow me to email records in the correct format (ie like the iphone emails out) but via the ipad. Any advice much appreciated.

  14. Eugene says:

Any ETA on Tap Forms HD? I’m eager to take the leap and buy Tap Forms but would rather not have to spend for the iPod version and then shortly thereafter spend for the iPad one… Maybe a sale on the iPod version is coming up to hold me over?… ;)

  15. admin says:

    Hello Barrie,

    a) Tap Forms HD will not delete the current version of Tap Forms. It’s an entirely separate app
    b) You will be able to easily do a backup to your computer using SyncDocs, then download Tap Forms HD, then do a restore to that.

The emailing from the iPad will be the same as the iPhone version.

    Thanks!

  16. admin says:

    Hello Eugene,

Tap Forms HD is still under development. There’s not much left to do now, but I have sent it out to a few testers. It’s getting closer, but I have no exact ETA.

    Thanks,

    Brendan

  17. Eugene says:

Okay, thanks for the update. I’m eagerly await its arrival! Or if you need another beta tester, I’d be happy to help out!…

  18. Dean says:

I’m interested to know how well the two versions of TF will work with each other. Will I be able to transfer databases created on the HD version to the non HD version?

  19. admin says:

    Hello Dean,

Yes, the database files are identical between platforms and are interchangeable.

    Thanks!

    Brendan
