Don’t upgrade to Tap Forms 3.0.2

[UPDATE - Oct 23 6:05 pm MT] I've determined this bug only affects the iPhone 5 and I have already fixed it and have submitted it for review to Apple today.

Hello all,

I just got word that there's a problem with Tap Forms encryption in version 3.0.2. If you've upgraded already, there are instructions here http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19512_7-10345683-233.html which will help you to downgrade to the 3.0.1 update. It's not guaranteed though if you don't have an older copy of Tap Forms in iTunes.

Make a backup of your Tap Forms files first by copying all the files from the Tap Forms Documents area using iTunes File Sharing before you do this.

I am investigating the issue now and will report back when I find out more about what's happening.

Very sorry for the inconvenience.

Brendan

You didn’t post the instructions on downgrading to the previous version

I found this article which describes how to downgrade:

I’ll update my post with this link.

Is this technique going to delete databases currently within the app? If so, doing this isn’t much help, as I have no way to backup what’s on the app currently- I can’t get beyond the password screen in the current version to create a backup.

Any idea when a fix is likely to be out? Thanks.

    Hello James,

I submitted my fix to Apple last night and also requested an expedited review which they have accepted. I just have to wait for them to do the review. I suspect within the next 3 days or so it will be reviewed and hopefully approved. The last time without an expedited review, it took 9 days before they got to it.

In the mean time I have removed Tap Forms for iPhone from sale all over the world so that it limits the number of people who will encounter this problem.

By uninstalling Tap Forms you will lose your data. However, if you plug into iTunes and use iTunes File Sharing, you can copy your database file and other files and folders to your computer’s hard disk to have a backup.

But if you can wait a few days, I would recommend just waiting. I verified my fix works with some other users who ran into this issue too.

    Thanks,

    Brendan
